As a young child, I enjoyed watching my dad create woodworking projects in his basement shop. I've always enjoyed the artistic side of things from the start of my life. The passion for creating led me to Chamberlain School of Design at Mt. Ida College in Newton Ma, where I completed my Associate of Science degree in Interior Design. I started my design career as a window treatment decorator for JCPenney, Co. Two years later I began my journey into Kitchen Design where I learned, created solid client relationships and evolved with a local growing company. I believe that professional and personal development is important along with job experience; I love to learn! In addition to my Interior Design degree, I hold my CKBD (certified kitchen and bath designer) credential through the National Kitchen and Bath Association with a Sustainability Specialty Badge. After 25 years in the kitchen and bath design business, and a few life changes, I returned to school to obtain my BS in Business Administration with a focus on Project Management with a goal of making a career modification that would allow me to have more quality family time and flexibility while still pursuing my passions. This intentional change let me into the field of energy efficiency as a project manager. I’ve recently received my BSP certification (Building Science Principles) from BPI (Building Performance Institute ) and look forward to continuing my learning journey in the energy efficiency world. While this has proven to be a great change for me, I still love designing and helping people create the heart of their home with sustainability in mind. I will be consulting on a part time basis while using my 25 years of experience in the field of kitchen design to help my clients. I’m excited for this new adventure that will allow me to continue doing what I love in parallel with working toward a more sustainable and energy efficient world. When I'm not designing spaces, I’m busy being a mom. We love exploring the outdoors and creating art projects. I have a passion for hiking, travel, landscape creation, home improvement projects, and of course the arts. Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to connecting! Sincerely, Karen Pied
